The WVU baseball team capped off an impressive five-day stretch with their fifth consecutive victory, sweeping a Saturday doubleheader against Utah after a Friday night win, securing the series. Due to anticipated Sunday weather, the teams played three games in just over 24 hours. Coach Steve Sabins emphasized the importance of sustained focus, a lesson reinforced after a previous loss at BYU. In the second game of the doubleheader, WVU's offense exploded for 17 hits, with Spencer Barnett leading the charge with a 4-for-4 performance. Skylar King drove in a game-high four runs, while Brodie Kresser and West Virginia natives Jace Rinehart and Grant Hussey also contributed significantly. Pitcher Jack Kartsonas had a strong relief outing, and Ben McDougal closed out the final inning. With this sweep, the Mountaineers extended their winning streak to seven games and five in Big 12 play, improving their record to 27-4 (7-3 Big 12) before their upcoming game against Penn State and a conference series at Houston.
