In a tightly contested softball matchup at Mylan Park, University rallied for a 3-2 victory over Wheeling Central Catholic, fueled by an outstanding relief performance from Maddie Campbell. After Wheeling Central jumped to an early 2-1 lead with runs from Bella Rine and a solo home run by Sydney Hupp, Campbell entered the game in the second inning and delivered six innings of shutout relief, striking out nine and allowing only four hits. University tied the game in the first inning with Kelsey Park scoring on a wild pitch and then again in the sixth when Campbell doubled home Park. Park also contributed significantly with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate.
