Nitro Wildcats Survive Scoring Drought to Defeat Wayne Pioneers in State Tournament Rematch
In a thrilling defensive battle, the Nitro Wildcats emerged victorious over the Wayne Pioneers, 30-25, in a rematch of last year's state tournament final.
Nitro's strong defense and clutch three-pointers in the fourth quarter propelled them to victory. Despite Wayne's efforts and a close contest throughout, Nitro held on for the win.
Natalie Smith led the Wildcats with 11 points, while Mikayla Stacy paced the Pioneers with 10. The game was played in a packed gym with both teams honoring Maddox Potter, a high school student who recently passed away from cancer.
This win improves Nitro's record to 10-2 and solidifies their position as a top contender in Class AAA.
