Morgantown High School secured a 6-3 victory over their Mylan Park co-tenants, University High School, in their first matchup of the season. Mohigans pitcher Madison Wisman pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits and striking out seven while also driving in the game's first run with a double in the opening inning, followed by an RBI single from Paige Rhodes. Morgantown extended their lead to 3-0 in the third when Liz Alsop scored on a wild pitch, and Alsop later hit a two-run home run in the fourth, making it 5-0. University began to rally, scoring a run in the fifth via a sacrifice fly by Adalyn Brown and two more in the sixth with a two-run single from Sophia Lehosit, narrowing the score to 5-3. However, Morgantown responded in the top of the seventh with an RBI single from Madi Stone, establishing the final score of 6-3. Stone led the Mohigans with two hits, while Lehosit pitched five innings of relief for the Hawks, recording 11 strikeouts.
