In a highly anticipated matchup between two of West Virginia's top Class AAAA softball teams, No. 2 Hurricane defeated No. 1 Cabell Midland 4-1. Hurricane established an early lead, scoring all the runs they would need within the first three innings, while junior pitcher Kate Justice delivered a stellar performance in the circle, pitching a complete game with 13 strikeouts and no walks. Hurricane took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Kyndall Harper RBI single, but Cabell Midland tied the game in the third with an RBI double from Nicole Harris. Hurricane quickly responded in the bottom of the third with another RBI from Harper, and Hadley Lawson's two-run home run in the fourth extended their lead. Despite Audrea Watts striking out 12 for Cabell Midland, Hurricane's strong pitching and timely hitting secured the victory, maintaining their unbeaten record against in-state opponents and allowing four or fewer runs in all their wins.
