Tug Valley, the top seed and defending state champion, defeated Montcalm 67-36 in a Class A quarterfinal at the Charleston Coliseum. Montcalm, making their first state tournament appearance since 1978, started strong, but Tug Valley gained control late in the first half and dominated the third quarter. Tug Valley's strong defense and efficient offense, led by Braydun Ferris's 26 points, proved too much for Montcalm. Despite Montcalm's Donovan Reed scoring 15 points and a rebounding advantage, Tug Valley's overall performance, including minimal turnovers and high shooting percentage, secured their victory. Tug Valley coach Garland "Rabbit" Thompson praised his team's defense, while Montcalm coach Adam Havens emphasized the significance of his team's tournament appearance for their community.
