Game Recap Class A Quarterfinal: Tucker County vs. Magnolia
Season 2, Episode 10
•
Sports
Tucker County, the Class A No. 2 seed, advanced to the state tournament semifinals with a 59-47 victory over No. 7 Magnolia, though the Mountain Lions' performance fell short of their coach's expectations. Despite a more decisive win in their regular-season matchup, Tucker County faced a tougher challenge this time, with Magnolia displaying strong early play and even taking a brief lead. Tucker County, however, rallied with a 15-0 run before halftime, establishing a lead they maintained throughout the second half. Magnolia showed resilience, narrowing the gap in the fourth quarter, but Tucker County's size and rebounding advantage, particularly on the offensive boards, proved decisive. Trevan Bonner led Tucker County with 15 points, and Garrett Wilfong dominated the boards with 13 rebounds before exiting with an ankle injury. Magnolia's Kingston Christen and Dubale Greathouse contributed strong offensive performances, but their efforts were ultimately insufficient to overcome Tucker County's dominance. Tucker County will now face East Hardy in the semifinals.
